چکیده

We thank Liu et al. (1) for their comments on our paper (2). The first point of Liu et al. (1) is that the Lake Dali Early Holocene highstand could reflect increased winter precipitation and/or glacier melt rather than monsoon rainfall. First, modern winter precipitation contributes <10% annual precipitation (2, 3). To sustain the Early Holocene highstand solely based on winter precipitation requires a 10-fold winter precipitation increase. Such a large change in precipitation seasonality would require a massive reorganization of atmospheric circulation, yet there is no evidence that this occurred. Second, the pollen precipitation reconstruction (4) requires a 3-km-thick remnant glacier to sustain the Early Holocene highstand of the lake. The lake hydrological balance is:

Monsoon influences on the limnology of Juam Lake, South Korea

Korean lakes differ from other temperate counterparts because they are artificially constructed reservoirs and experience an annual hydrologic cycle dominated by a summer monsoon (JONES et al. 1997, 2003, KIM et al. 2001). In this paper we describe how the monsoon influences the general limnology of Juam Lake, South Korea, as a contribution to the growing body of information on processes and se...

Reconstruction environmental changes of Maharlou Lake in Holocene

Extended Abstract: 1-Introduction There is a direct relationship in evaporative deposit with the changes in the depth of the lake. Therefore?, valuable information is gained regarding the causation of changes in environment over time. Evaporite minerals formation is a natural phenomenon accruing in water-bodies containing deferent mineral Since sulfate is abundant in seawater and saline lakes...

Reconstruction the climatic changes of the last 600 years in Southeast Iran, study area, the Lake Sardarya, Taftan Volcano

Introduction: In order to recognize the mechanism of local climatic settings and to be able to establish the future climatic scenarios is essential to understand the past climatic and environmental conditions of the each area. This is also important to explore the response of local areas to the global climatic variations. The palaeoclimate researches carried out in Iran mainly considered the g...

Comparative phylogeography and evolutionary history of schizothoracine fishes in the Changtang Plateau and their implications for the lake level and Pleistocene climate fluctuations

The water level oscillation of endorheic lakes and extent change of glaciers associated with the Asian monsoon are known as prominent representatives of climatic and environmental events in the Tibetan Plateau during the Quaternary. However, details process in spatial and temporal changes are still debated. We use the schizothoracines as a palaeoclimatic proxy to test two hypotheses concerning ...

On the association between spring Arctic sea ice concentration and Chinese summer rainfall

[1] A statistical relationship between spring Arctic sea ice concentration (SIC) and Chinese summer rainfall is identified using singular value decomposition (SVD). Results show that decreased (increased) spring SIC in the Arctic Ocean and the Greenland Sea corresponds to increased (decreased) summer rainfall in northeast China and central China between the Yangtze River and the Yellow River (2...
